WE FOR THEM (WFT)

From April 2022 to March 2024, Empowering Women for Excellence Initiative (EWEI), with support from the African Women’s Development Fund (AWDF), is implementing the “We For Them” (WFT) Programme. The African Women’s Development Fund (AWDF) is a grant-making foundation that supports local, national, and regional women’s organisations working towards empowering African women and promoting and realising their rights.

WFT aims to reduce sexual and gender-based violence rates, focusing on sexual harassment and abuse in public spaces. The programme is also raising awareness about EWEI’s Gender-based Violence toll-free helpline and support systems for survivors.

EWEI is working with the Kaduna State branch of 2 organisations: The National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), and the Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP), Kaduna State Polytechnic Branch. This collaboration aims to benefit over 4,500 beneficiaries across Kaduna state.
