Together We Can (TWC)
The “Together We Can (TWC)” project aims to build upon the success of the Our Safe Spaces (OSS) project and provide support to voiceless women and girl survivors of gender-based violence, physical, economic violence, and sexual exploitation in protracted crisis areas of Kaduna State, specifically Kajuru and Chikun LGAs. Recognizing the intersectional discrimination these survivors face, the intervention will focus on mentoring and guidance, drawing from the experiences and achievements of beneficiaries from the OSS project.
The primary beneficiaries of the project will be 60 women, with 30 women each from the Kajuma Community in Chikun LGA and the Kasuwan Magani community in Kajuru LGA. Additionally, advocacy campaigns will be carried out to engage men and boys within the target communities. This is important as they have often been identified as the main perpetrators of gender-based violence, attributed to patriarchy and toxic masculinity. By involving men and boys as vanguards and promoting accountability, the project aims to address the root causes of violence and foster a supportive environment.
An important aspect of the project is to increase awareness of toll-free GBV helplines and existing support systems for survivors not only in Kaduna State but also in neighbouring states. The toll-free GBV helplines have proven to be effective in providing real-time response and access to intervention and psychosocial support for victims and survivors. By raising awareness about these resources, the project seeks to ensure that survivors have access to the help they need.
